Cadwraeth Schärer Conservation is a bilingual company of skilled craftsmen and qualified conservators.
Based in Snowdonia, we have a well-equipped conservation studio and a skilled building conservation team. Our practice of fine craftsmanship using traditional skills is combined with knowledge of contemporary conservation techniques, materials and ethics.
Our studio expertise is in the conservation of sculpture, monuments and mosaics, and painted and applied decorative surfaces, on stone, plaster and wood.
The building conservation team is skilled in all aspects of lime-work and associated building trades. We carry out plastering, decorative plasterwork, limewashing, wattle and daub, traditional slate roofing and masonry. We work as main contractors on large projects, as well as small-scale work. We use our traditional building skills on the conservation of historic buildings and as an environmentally responsible alternative to modern methods and materials in new buildings.
The company is headed by Ned Schärer, who set up his North Wales based conservation firm after working on historic buildings and artefacts across the UK and Europe. His experience working for Westminster Abbey and National Museums, and the companys work for Friends of Friendless Churches and The Landmark Trust, as well as private trusts and clients, has firmly established Schärer Conservation as experts in the field.
